Do you believe that every worker should have access to fair wages, job security, and respect on the job? Are you passionate about helping others find their voice and their power through collective action?
The Organizing Committee is dedicated to supporting non-unionized workers, as they explore creating a union. Our goal is to grow worker power on campus and in the broader Kingston community by helping others access the power, protections, rights, and dignity that come with collective bargaining.
Unions make a difference. They raise standards, protect jobs, and give workers the tools to speak up and demand real change. Too many people on campus and in our community still face mistreatment, low pay, and workplace intimidation without the mutual protection of a union.
The Organizing Committee works to change that. We:
-
Support non-unionized workers at our employer who are seeking collective bargaining
-
Build connections with workers in the community who want to organize
-
Educate others about the benefits and process of unionization
-
Providing a listening ear and helping hand to those exploring their labour rights
-
Coordinating with our District to offer outreach, materials, and organizing support.
Organizing is both challenging and deeply rewarding. It’s about standing with workers when they need it most and being part of something bigger than yourself. If you believe in the power of solidarity and you want to help bring fairness and dignity to more workplaces, become part of the Organizing Committee.
The labour movement and unions grow powerful when we bring others with us. Let’s build that future. Together.
