Education Committee

Are you passionate about learning and helping others learn? Do you want to help your fellow union members better understand their rights, their power, and the movement they are part of?

The Education Committee is looking for volunteers to help create and deliver engaging content that builds knowledge, confidence, and solidarity across our Local. Our purpose is to help members learn about unionism more broadly, from the fundamentals of collective bargaining, the history of our Local, and strategies for building workplace power. Our goal is to make union information accessible, relevant and inspiring.

Our committee has two ongoing projects:

First, we’re creating a series of lunchtime online presentations (Eat & Educate) focused on key topics, such as:

  • Understanding your collective rights

  • The role and structure of your union

  • Building workplace power and solidarity

  • The history and legacy of our Local

  • How to get involved and lead within your union

Second, we are looking to create programming and events that are eligible to receive support from our union’s Family and Community Education Fund.

No teaching, instructional design, or project management experience is necessary, just curiosity, commitment and a desire to help others grow. Volunteers can assist with everything from developing content, gathering resources, hosting sessions, and supporting discussions.

If you believe that education is a tool for empowerment, we want you as part of the team that strengthens our union through knowledge.

Join the Education Committee. Help build an informed, engaged, and powerful membership, one lunchtime lesson at a time.
